Mel Gale is a multimedia artist, illustrator and printmaker based in Wiltshire. Working across both traditional and digital techniques, she creates distinctive illustrations that draw on a rich mix of influences, including architecture, folklore, gardens, plants and everyday objects, often with a playful nod to cats.

Her work is shaped by an interest in psychogeography, liminal spaces and a touch of the surreal, resulting in pieces that feel imaginative, detailed and quietly intriguing. She also produces popular prints of Bradford on Avon and the Wiltshire white horses, capturing a strong sense of place alongside her more whimsical work.

Alongside her illustrations, Mel creates a wide range of smaller works and gifts, including cards, postcards, small press comics, stickers and handmade items.

Mel’s creative practice is rooted in curiosity and experimentation, and her work reflects both a love of materials and a deeply personal engagement with image making.
