Amy Yates

Amy Yates is a Frome-based artist working from her studio at the Welshmill Community Hub in Somerset. Her practice is rooted in a lifelong passion for colour, design, and observation, drawing inspiration from everyday surroundings, travels, and the distinctive character of the towns and landscapes she encounters.

Working primarily in oil on canvas, Amy also explores collage, printmaking, and digital media. Her distinctive style often reimagines familiar townscapes through layered colour, texture, and a subtly fragmented perspective, creating vibrant, multi-faceted compositions that capture both place and memory.

With a strong interest in the therapeutic potential of creativity, Amy’s work is also informed by her engagement with mental health and neurodiversity, reflecting a belief in art as a means of connection, reflection, and well-being.
