Bloemen & Blue is the work of cyanotype artist Libby, who uses one of the earliest photographic processes, first developed in the nineteenth century. Working with light-sensitive iron compounds and ultraviolet exposure, she creates each piece by hand, developing the work in water to produce the distinctive Prussian blue tones that define the medium. Through careful experimentation, her practice explores a rich range of blues, from soft and delicate to deep and atmospheric.
Inspired by a childhood spent by the sea and now based in Wiltshire, Libby uses cyanotype to evoke a sense of coastline and memory, capturing something of shifting tides and open horizons. Every piece is an original, shaped by the unpredictable nature of the process and her ongoing exploration of its materials and possibilities.
