Discover local art. Find meaningful gifts.
Welcome to Handmade Bradford-on-Avon, where we champion local artists and artisans, and celebrate handmade crafts for the benefit of our community.
Handmade Bradford on Avon is a Community Interest Company with shop premises in the heart of the beautiful and historic town of Bradford on Avon. The town was once famous for wool weaving - many grand merchant houses and textile mills from those times, now sought after as apartments, remain clustered in the centre.
The shop is located in The Vaults in Lamb Yard, a place that was once busy and bustling with the delivery and dispatch of goods. After the wool trade declined, a major rubber factory was established in 1848 and became a key industry until the 1990s. The Vaults, built with local limestone, feature beautiful vaulted ceilings and were constructed to store raw India rubber as part of that industrial past.
We stock the work of over 40 local artists, about half of whom volunteer in the shop to serve our customers. The company is managed by our three directors, all of whom are volunteers and artists. Every one of us is committed to supporting our artistic community. Every penny spent in our shop goes back to the community.
